CHECK BEFORE RE-FINGERPRINTING
A Previous Clearinghouse Screening May Already Exist
DCF providers can search the Clearinghouse for existing screening records before initiating a new request. In some situations, an existing eligible screening may be available for review rather than automatically requiring another fingerprint appointment.
Ask the requesting provider to confirm whether a new fingerprint submission is actually required.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BOOK?
DCF Fingerprinting FAQs
What is DCF fingerprinting?
DCF fingerprinting is electronic Level 2 fingerprint capture used for applicable Florida Department of Children and Families background-screening requirements.
What is a DCF ORI?
The ORI identifies the agency and purpose associated with the criminal history request. Use the ORI supplied for your specific DCF screening.
What is a DCF OCA?
The OCA identifies the provider or organization requesting your DCF background screening. Bring the exact OCA given to you by that provider.
Can I be fingerprinted without my ORI and OCA?
You should obtain the required screening information before your appointment. DCF states that both ORI and OCA information are needed to properly process and route a DCF screening request.
Does my provider need to initiate the screening first?
For applicable Clearinghouse screenings, the DCF provider should search for an existing screening and initiate a new request when required before the fingerprinting process is completed.
Do summer-camp personnel need DCF screening?
DCF states that summer-camp personnel, including owners, operators, employees, and volunteers who provide care for children, are subject to applicable background-screening requirements.
Can an existing Clearinghouse screening be used?
In some cases an existing eligible screening may already be available in the Clearinghouse. The requesting provider should check the applicant’s screening status before automatically requesting new fingerprints.
Do you offer mobile DCF fingerprinting?
Mobile service may be available for eligible child-care providers, camps, residential programs, agencies, and groups. Call (407) 413-7989 to request mobile service and confirm availability.
