FLORIDA PRIVATE SECURITY FINGERPRINTING

FDACS Fingerprinting for Florida Security Licenses

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) licenses and regulates Florida’s private security industry under Chapter 493, Florida Statutes. Applicable license applicants must submit legible fingerprints as part of the licensing process.

5 Star Mobile Fingerprinting provides electronic LiveScan fingerprint capture for applicants directed to submit fingerprints for eligible FDACS private-security applications. We do not issue licenses, provide required security training, or make licensing decisions.

Before you book: Confirm your license type and follow the fingerprint instructions for your application. Private-security fingerprinting is different from the fingerprint procedure for a Florida concealed-weapon license.

Who Is This Service For?

  • Class D Security Officer applicants
  • Class G Statewide Firearm license applicants
  • Applicable security agency or manager applicants
  • Eligible private-security or instructor applicants
  • Security companies coordinating new-hire fingerprinting

Your exact fingerprint requirements depend on your license class and FDACS application instructions.

KNOW YOUR LICENSE CLASS

Class D vs. Class G Security Licensing

CLASS D • SECURITY OFFICER

Unarmed Security Officer License

Class D is the Florida license for individuals performing security-officer services. FDACS generally requires at least 40 hours of approved professional training or qualifying evidence of an accepted exception.

Fingerprinting is part of the application, but completing fingerprints does not replace the training, application, or licensing requirements.

CLASS G • STATEWIDE FIREARM

Armed Security Firearm License

Class G is the Statewide Firearm license required for eligible Chapter 493 licensees who carry a firearm while performing covered duties. FDACS generally requires a 28-hour initial course, subject to qualifying training exceptions.

Class G is distinct from a general Florida concealed-weapon license. Follow FDACS instructions for your specific application.

AFTER YOUR FINGERPRINT APPOINTMENT

Keep Your Fingerprint Receipt and TCN

FDACS instructs electronic fingerprint applicants to keep the fingerprint receipt and any submission documentation. Your receipt contains a Transaction Control Number (TCN), which can be required if you pay the fingerprint-processing fee online.

Follow FDACS instructions about submitting the required documentation with your license application. The fingerprinting appointment itself does not submit your licensing application.

90-Day Application Reminder

FDACS recommends submitting your related license application within 90 days after fingerprinting to reduce the risk of a repeat scan and additional expense.

Reserve your in-office appointment online. Confirm the applicable fingerprint service and current pricing in the booking system before scheduling.

Appointment required. No walk-ins.

FINGERPRINT FEE VS. LICENSE FEE

Follow the Payment Instructions on Your Receipt

Fingerprint capture, applicable fingerprint processing, and the FDACS license application can have separate payment instructions. Some private vendors collect fingerprint-processing fees at the appointment; others direct applicants to pay through FDLE’s Civil Applicant Payment System.

If you are instructed to pay the fingerprint-processing fee online, FDACS says to complete that payment within 30 days of the scan. Keep the receipt and follow your applicable instructions.

Fingerprinting Is One Step in the License Process

FDACS handles the license application and determines whether you meet the applicable licensing requirements. We do not promise approval, issue a Class D or Class G license, or complete the licensing application on your behalf.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BOOK?

Security Guard Fingerprinting FAQs

Do Class D security officer applicants need fingerprints?

FDACS requires a complete set of legible fingerprints for private-security license applicants, including applicable Class D applicants. Follow the fingerprint instructions for your specific application.

What is the difference between Class D and Class G?

Class D is the security officer license. Class G is the separate statewide firearm license for eligible Chapter 493 licensees who carry a firearm during covered duties. Fingerprinting does not replace either license or its other requirements.

Do I still need the Class D 40-hour training course?

FDACS generally requires at least 40 hours of approved training for Class D, with specified alternatives or exceptions for eligible applicants. Fingerprinting does not substitute for training.

Is Class G the same as a concealed-weapon license?

No. Class G is a specific statewide firearm license for eligible private-security and related Chapter 493 licensees. A general concealed-weapon license is a different license with different fingerprint instructions.

What is a fingerprint TCN?

TCN means Transaction Control Number. Keep the number shown on your fingerprint receipt. FDACS explains that it is needed if you are directed to pay your fingerprint fee online and that applicants should keep their fingerprint documentation.

When should I submit my FDACS application after fingerprinting?

FDACS recommends submitting your related license application within 90 days after the scan to reduce potential problems and repeat-fingerprinting expense.

Do I need an appointment at 5 Star?

Yes. All in-office fingerprinting is by appointment only. We do not accept walk-ins.

Will you submit my security license application?

No. We provide eligible fingerprint capture and submission services. You are responsible for following FDACS instructions for your license application, training documentation, and any applicable fees.

Can you fingerprint a group of security officers?

Mobile or group fingerprinting may be available for eligible security companies, training organizations, and teams. Call (407) 413-7989 to discuss your request.
