BEFORE YOU SCHEDULE

Not Every Florida Educator Applicant Should Use a Private Livescan Provider

Florida traditional and charter public-school employees normally complete employment fingerprinting through the school district’s personnel office. Those results are handled through the district and can be forwarded to the Bureau of Educator Certification.

A private Livescan appointment may be appropriate for certain eligible nonpublic-school employees, Athletic Coaching Certificate applicants, and eligible Professional Certificate applicants who are not seeking Florida employment.

Public-school employee? Contact your district personnel office before booking with us. FLDOE directs public-school employees to their district for fingerprint processing.

Who May Use This Service?

  • Eligible Professional Certificate applicants not seeking Florida employment
  • Eligible Athletic Coaching Certificate applicants
  • Certain qualifying nonpublic-school employees
  • Applicants specifically instructed by FLDOE/BEC to use a Livescan provider

Eligibility should be confirmed before scheduling.

FLDOE FINGERPRINT REQUIREMENTS

Bring the Information FLDOE Requires

For educator certification submissions, FLDOE lists specific data that must accompany the fingerprint transaction:

  • ORI: EDOEPUBS1 — Teacher Certification
  • OCA: Your Florida DOE number
  • Social Security Number: Required for BEC processing
  • Date of Birth: Must match BEC records

Missing or incorrect information can delay processing or require corrected fingerprint submission.

Have Your Florida DOE Number Ready

Your Florida DOE number serves as the Originating Agency Case number for the certification fingerprint transaction. Bring it with you along with your certification instructions and identification.

Do not use another applicant’s information.

CHECK YOUR ELIGIBILITY FIRST

Follow Your Statement of Status of Eligibility

FLDOE advises eligible certification applicants to follow the fingerprint instructions associated with their Statement of Status of Eligibility (SOE) and employment situation. Fingerprinting before you are eligible can create unnecessary cost and may not satisfy a future public-school employer’s screening requirement.

PUBLIC SCHOOL & CHARTER SCHOOL EMPLOYEES

Use Your District's Fingerprinting Process

If you are employed by a Florida traditional public school or charter school, FLDOE says your fingerprints should be processed through the school district employer. Contact the district personnel office for the correct procedure.

Booking a separate private fingerprint appointment may not replace the district’s employment-screening requirement.

Fingerprints Completed Before Employment May Need to Be Repeated

FLDOE warns that an applicant who fingerprints before Florida public-school employment may later need a new fingerprint submission and may have to pay another processing fee when hired.

MOBILE EDUCATION FINGERPRINTING

Need Fingerprinting for an Eligible Education Group?

Mobile service may be available for eligible nonpublic-school organizations, education programs, coaching groups, or other approved group requests in applicable Central Florida service areas.

Public-school districts should follow their required district screening process.
